A few weeks ago, I did a blog on James Harrison, the MVP of the super bowl …. the focus of my blog was on the fact that Harrison had been cut 6 times from various teams, but he never gave up believing in himself and ultimately, he wins the super bowl and is the MVP… however, the media did not use this great positive story, his story made only the back pages of the news.
the point of that blog was to question why the media (at least in america) didnt focus on this positive story?
At the end of that blog – I said something like, “I guarantee if something negative happens to Harrison, he would command headline news…”
Unfortunately, I was correct.
Harrison made the headline news twice this week — first time was when his pit bull attacked his 2 year old son and the 2nd time (this week) was when he turned down going to the White House and meeting Obama. In fact, the media passionately discussed his Obama diss for several days … and I noticed we were updated each day on his 2 year old sons health (he is going to be ok)
The world we live in today…. (at least in america, but BBC is often similar)… we would rather hear stories about the failures and struggles of others, than the greatness in man.
