Run: 2:48
Swim: 3,400 meters
Core: missed workout
Comments:
Today was my last long run of my 3 month training camp in Austria.
Once again, I didnt sleep well … and felt like crap, but tried to be positive and think “happy thoughts…”
I commented to Mario on the drive to the lake that my knee’s no longer hurt – at all.
And we laughed about how doing a “3 hour run” is considered “easy” in my training schedule.
We ran around the lake on a 24km course which has a large portion of climbing and decending on trails and rock … the run started well, but once we got into the trails, and the climbing up …. I died.
After spending a long time on the mountain paths, the course comes out in front of a hotel…and then I had a 30-45 minute flat run back to the car.
My knees were very sore the last 30 minutes and the run was just miserable.
I had 43 hours of training this past week. I think if I had slept better, my run would have been considerably faster. I ran slow because I was not into the run, and thought too much about how tired I was … mentally, I was not on today.
Mario commented after the run that he knew in the beginning that I was tired because he didnt hear me saying “hello” to people (I always say hello to whoever I pass or get passed by – and Mario finds this funny)
Mario beat me by 35+ minutes …
I sat in the cold lake for 15 minutes or so, and dreamed back over the past 3 months of training.
In the afternoon, Mario and I drove around and filmed various training places – including the mountain road where I had the 3:08 climb non stop on the bike.
In the evening, I drove 25km to the pool in Woergl and swam 3,400. After the swim, I was dead tired and could hardly keep my eyes open on the drive home.
I fly back to Dubai tonight, but have a 4 hour bike ride now … and then I will swim 4,000 meters and after meet Mario at his gym and do core strength workout.
Tomorrow is my first day off in 17 days.
