Bike:  6 hours exactly (163km)
transition less than 10 minutes
Run:  2 hours (just under 20km)

Comments:
We had a good tough ride – we had a strong head wind for what seemed like a majority of the ride.  My neck and right shoulder was very sore for most of the ride.  The pain was annoying, and I wasted too much mental energy thinking about my neck and shoulder hurting.

Funny memory … we had just finished a long, fairly steep climb and I was sure we had been riding for close to 5 hours …. and then I looked at my watch and saw we had only been riding for 3:04 — just half way!  The time crawled by …. mainly because I focused on my neck and shoulder pain, rather than just enjoying the ride.

Mario also had neck and shoulder pain – he says its due to the strong wind…. but I am sure the pain is from the core strength training from yesterday.
We arrived back at Mario’s house after a bit more than 6 hours …

I quickly, changed – and to be honest was happy that Mario was not going to run with me – or at least I thought.  (it’s not much fun having him always kick my ass on the run)
But – when we finished the bike, Mario said he would run one hour with me to show me the 9.5km loop.

I tried to keep up with Mario … but he kicked my ass, and he had to keep turning around and running back to me so not to get too far ahead.
The first hour/loop went by very slowly – but my legs were not sore, just stiff.
After 15 minutes or so, my legs seemed good.  My main issue is that I am stuck in a gear … I dont know how to increase my speed, or maybe I am just being a pussy.

My 2nd lap was 2-3 minutes faster than the 1st and I had to run a bit of a 3rd lap to ensure I ran the entire 2 hours…

8+ hours of training today nearly non stop.

I said to Mario that i was very happy with today’s 8 hour training session … and he laughing replied, “8 hours is nothing….its just the beginning…”

Tomorrow we have a 5 hour mountain hike scheduled — on the beginning of the bike ride this morning, Mario told me “tomorrow will be more difficult than today…”
