Sophie, Marie and I flew to Paris at 9:00 and began our summer vacation.
Ironically, we organized our summer vacation around my ironman training, esp. the bike. We were scheduled to go to a small island in Greece for 16 days, but recently I forced us to cancel this because I wouldnt be able to train for the bike on the small island…..
so we are going to Bretagne (Brittany) for two weeks (north west coastal area of france famous for its food) I was looking forward to biking as much as possible over the break along the bretagne coast … but 30 minutes before we were to leave for the airport; when I tried to pack my trek into my bike travel case, I discovered it was too big for the box. My trek is 63cm and the box only goes up to 61cm. Needless to say, I am very annoyed with myself. Now I will focus on running and swim training over the next two weeks … however, I am weakest on the bike and that is what i need the most work on.
We flew into Paris, rented a car and then drove into Paris to eat lunch before we drove 4 hours to our small farm house in the middle of france where “Tata” and Giovanna have been for the past month.
Lunch: La Coupole, one of the most famous brasserie in Paris
glass of champagne
9 escargots
andouillette with fries
2 glasses of cote de Rhone
I broke my “no champgne/wine” diet … and as to be expected, regreted all afternoon. I felt lethargic and tired for the rest of the day.
snack/dinner: 2 oranges
went to sleep at mid night
Total training: 2:00
