Woke at 4:15
Breakfast: strong coffee and 1 liter of water
Bike: 4:52
152km (just about 100 miles) longest I have ever ridden a bike.
I was scheduled to ride only 4 hours, but I got lost near Imperia, Italy so ended up riding a lot more than I thought.
I took the cervelo out and my neck and shoulders are very very very sore. Much more sore than my legs.
I drank 2 water bottles of infinitnutrition during the ride, and 1 liter of evian before.
The cervelo rides very fast, but the pain in my neck and upper back is tremendous. Any readers who are cyclists, please send me your comments and suggestions on how to overcome this.
The last 5km is up a long, steep hill and I was absolutely, f…. dead tired, but rode up the whole way.
I am very tired, but mainly it is my neck and shoulders that are sore. My legs seem ok.
I burned about 4,300 calories.
Snack: power bar
Lunch: fish soup (bouillabaisse), a piece of whole wheat bread, fruit plate and at least 1.5 liters of water
went to a movie with sophie, but didnt eat anything – just 1 liter of evian
Dinner: Onion and garlic omlette (french style), avacado salad, vegetable soup and two peaches.
Comments: probably didnt eat enough today, but wasnt very hungry. also, we didnt go to the grocerie so we do not have much food at the house. My ride this morning was good, but my neck and shoulders hurt very badly. However, the rest of the day I felt fine, maybe a little bit sleepy.
Its 19:50 and I am in bed reading. Will go to sleep by 20:30 and will not have a problem falling asleep.
Total training today: about 5 hours, maybe a little bit longer
