Active recovery week … so easy training sessions.

Bike:  2:30
transition:  about 5 minutes
Run:  60 minutes

Comments:
I organized my schedule to do my bike at 14:30 so to finish at 5pm to do my run.  (this will be around the same time i start to run when i do naseba7)

Tom called me just as I arrived to where i do my bike and run …. to tell me my new LOOK Mondrian bike arrived…
so I was distracted during my ride thinking about my new bike –  I am very proud to be sponsored by LOOK.
Thank you Raphael!

So instead of being focused on my ride, I dreamed about my new bike.

I noticed my heart rate seem to be stuck around 100-107 bpm no matter how fast I spun my legs.
At one point I was going 39km/h, but my heart rate was only 108.  I think the highest it got during the ride was 122.
To me this seems too low, very low.  To be honest, I never focused on my heart rate on rides before.

The 2:30 went by quickly, and then I did a quick, rushed transition – put my bike in the car, and changed from my bike shorts to running shorts.  As I stood next to my car ass naked, a man walked up (i am on the side of the road in the middle of the desert) the man is from Bangladesh and I assume works in construction.

Although he spoke no english, we stood there small talking, or trying to as I put my shorts on …

My run was an easy 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back.
I am sponsored by PUMA and have been wearing their FAAS 500 for the past couple of weeks.  Its not a sales pitch – I swear to God … but since I switched to the FAAS500 my knees do not hurt at all.  Not at all.

I know it sounds like I am saying this just because they are sponsoring me, but after running more than 200+ km in the shoes, without knee pain … it’s gotta be the shoes…

I did core as soon as I got home from my bike and run.  Marie, my oldest daugher is training to run a 10km race in Tokyo so she and I did core together.

A good day of training, but my ride was not focused enough.  Also, I wasnt prepared enough before the ride … I didnt have ice for my drinks, thus they were warm when I drank after the training.

Another note — I rarely eat red or white meat.  I was a strict vegan for 9 months last year, but quit the diet 3 weeks before my channel swim to gain weight.

I had steak last night, and slept poorly… as I was eating the steak, I thought of Dr. Sweetser’s advice of eating carbs at night, not protein so to be able to sleep well.
But I was hungry and ate the red meat anyways … and slept poorly.

After naseba7, I will go back to being a vegan.
During the 9 months I was a  vegan (I didnt break the diet once in 9 months)
I felt much better.  I slept consistently, well and overall was less aggressive, and felt great all day long.
I highly recommend the vegan diet.
